Catcher in the Rye #4

Holden, Holden, Holden.

what a cutie when he's with Sally. his personality changed in a blink of an eye. he's such a sweetie and his feelings really showed in the book. he didn't say them aloud to Sally, but his thoughts about her were absolutely adorable. he said that he wanted to marry her?!

what a sweetheart.

Catcher in the Rye #3

so yeah, i'm done with the book. it was a lot better than i thought it was going to be. i liked the end when he was watching Phoebe ride the carousel, but he wasn't riding it. i think Holden finally realized that he has grown since the beginning of the book and that he has gotten more mature. at least that's what i thought.

i guess now that i think about it, Phoebe and Holden's relationship is like, stable. i actually come to like it now that i've finished the book. i think that Phoebe and Holden's relationship was what this book was about and the book surrounded around this idea. i wish i had that kind of relationship with someone, even though it's not brother and sister.

cause my brother's like.. 8.
but just with someone that i can pour out all my feelings, wrong or right, without being judged. everyone seems to be judged now, we're all judged by looks, what we say, who we hang out with.

i think Phoebe and Holden's relationship allowed them to be themselves and be able to express their ideas and stress and whatever they want freely.

i can't do that, cause everyone judges me. they don't know exactly who i am. people who think they know me most of the time don't. they think they understand situations that i'm going through but they are just trying to comfort me. i wish i could talk to someone thoroughly like phoebe and holden and  be comfortable with it without doubt that i've told that person things that i shouldn't have.

Catcher in the Rye #2

We learn more about Holden and Phoebe's relationship and it seems as if they really trust each other. Phoebe looks up to Holden as a role model and respects him. Holden trusts Phoebe with all of his problems although she's much younger than him. I wonder if that's a good thing that he pours all of his emotions and feelings towards her. He has strange problems and Phoebe listens to all of them. We'll see how their relationship grows.

Catcher in the Rye #1

In the beginning of Catcher in the Rye, I thought that Holden was an ignorant young man who was nice on the surface. Holden was friendly towards Ackley, but I didn't know if it was really him or not. But when I read deeper into the book, I realized that Holden was a thoughtful man. He has a hard time living through his brother's death and wrote about his baseball glove in an essay for Stradlater. Holden showed his true side through this essay and I began to view Holden in a different but positive way.
